On 2 and 3 June 1946, referendum was held in Italy to decide which form of dictatorship or democracy was better for the Italian people. The referendum was announced at the end of World War 2. Eventually, Italian people chose the democracy state. On June 2nd, the people of Italy celebrate their Republic Day. Republic Day was founded after the abolishment of the dictatorial government in Italy in 1946. Italy’s President places a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. There is a military parade that is held every year on this day. The planes fly over Rome. The planes leave a trail of the Italian flag colors. There is excitement and joy on this day.
